Click in ” Legend ” at 9 O’clock and you can see the voltage of the lines and the mosaic of power generation plants in operation and planned.
Click on the white spots out at sea and these are the offshore wind farms. White spots on land are power generators or substations. Checked Lines are gridlines in development.
What does this all tell us?
There is a huge huge volume of offshore wind being introduced. WEGS are no longer 1 MW from when I got started, the largest turbines are now 15MW.
Wind, as you know is the most intermittent of the renewables, causes grids the greatest problems and needs vast quantities of BESS. As Li-Ion Batteries have reduced in price by 85% over the last years, its looking like boom time for BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems).
