The UK waste crisis: a Gen Z perspective

The waste crisis in the UK is escalating, with landfills emitting foul odours and toxic emissions from waste incineration polluting the air. Illegal dumping, with more than one million incidents reported in 2023 alone, is cluttering streets and homes. Inadequate disposal practices contribute to pollution, health risks, and climate change, potentially costing USD 640.3 billion globally by 2050. The situation is dire, with the environmental and health impacts of waste mismanagement becoming increasingly unmanageable. Robust policies and sustainable practices are urgently needed to address these issues and protect our generation and generations to come. Immediate action is critical to mitigate these escalating [...]

GreenMine begins its run of the entrepreneurial gauntlet to Institutional Investment

Dear All, Did you know that Running the Gauntlet has no relation to the glove? The term “Running The Gauntlet” dates from the first half of the 1600s, and derives from the word gantlope, which itself comes from the Swedish word gatlopp, for “lane-course”. It was in fact a form of military punishment where a man ran between two rows of soldiers who struck him with sticks or knotted ropes. Sometimes, it seems to me this is what the entrepreneurial gauntlet feels like. In the early stages, nobody wants you to win apart from your Mum. G8 and are now passing them onto [...]

Landfill stinks

By Nick Dimmock, Director of Investor Relations at 350PPM And we’re not just talking about the smell. The whole concept of landfill is a horrendous blight on the environment and the long-term impact, even after landfill sites have stopped accepting waste, can still be felt for decades.   The 2,200-acre Apex Regional Landfill in Las Vegas receives about 9,000 tons of municipal solid waste daily. It is the biggest in the US and has a projected life of 250 years. According to the International Solid Waste Association, a roadmap for closing waste dumpsites determined that landfill sites currently contain approximately 40% of the [...]

GreenMine is the new trading name for Pyrolysise

GreenMine, the new trading name of Pyrolysise Ltd, is gaining significant traction. GreenMine has co-developed a series of technologies designed for processing unsorted municipal waste (including plastics) from kerbside collection and landfill sites. One of them is detailed here. Landfills can also contaminate water supply through leachate into the subsoil. With GreenMine's technology, unsorted waste can be processed into bio-coal (allowing energy generation), bio-char (the new black gold), bio-oil (including lignin) and recyclables (glass, metals, minerals etc). Green baseload power and as [...]
