As per energy storage news, approval is being sought for a 400MW advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) project with eight hours of storage to be built in California by technology provider Hydrostor. The Canada-headquartered company is the first in the world to have built an operating commercial A-CAES facility, a much smaller 1.75MW project in Goderich, Ontario, with about 10MWh capacity based on its own technologies. Hydrostor has now filed an Application for Certification with the California Energy Commission for the 400MW / 3,200MWh Pecho Energy Storage Center it wants to build in the state’s San Luis Obispo County. Application for [...]
Read MoreThe plant would be able to deliver 400 MW of electricity for 8 hours, and would be comparable in size to some of California’s largest fossil fuel power plants. PV Magazine in US has revealed that an affiliate of Hydrostor filed an application for a 400 MW / 3200 MWh long duration energy storage (LDES) project with the California Energy Commission (CEC). Hydrostor deploys compressed air energy storage, a technology that is able to store and dispatch energy for long durations. As the region’s 2,200 MW Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is set to retire in 2024/2025, the LDES project has a target for commercial operation date as early as [...]
Read MoreAt least four of the smaller UK energy companies are expected to go bust next week amid soaring wholesale gas prices. In a recent article published on BBC, it has been revealed that four firms have asked larger players to bid to take over the supply to one million customers. The price rise has left some companies unable to provide their customers with the energy they have paid for. Industry rules mean supplies will continue for affected customers, and they will not lose money owed to them. The new company is also responsible for taking on any credit balances the customer may have. [...]
Read More“All the batteries we make now can ONLY store 10 minutes of the world’s electricity needs, we need a breakthrough here, something that is going to be a factor of a HUNDRED better than what we have today"Bill Gates Since 2013, Storelectric has been developing utility scale energy storage technologies. Storelectric Ltd was the 2nd Company 350 PPM backed in 2017 and then again in 2019. Finally, you can find Storelectric's Energy Storage with Hydrogen Patent here - granted in the UK and specific to Green Hydrogen, which was filled in 2015, years before anyone was even thinking about Hydrogen (hyperbole). Having won The [...]
Read MoreGreen Hydrogen Energy Storage, now considered leading technology for energy storage. Considerably more efficient and cost effective than lithium battery storage. Storelectric, another success story from 350 PPM's portfolio, presents a game changer patent for Green Hydrogen Energy Storage. Specifically, the patent combines 3 sources of existing vectors of energy. It brings together renewable electricity, green hydrogen and industrial waste heat in a new way. This allows hydrogen storage at a global scale. Not to mention the elimination of fossil fuels. Furthermore, the technology makes use of the disused, stranded assets of the fossil fuel and plastics industries. In this way, [...]
