{"id":31593,"date":"2023-07-22T15:01:58","date_gmt":"2023-07-22T15:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/350ppm.co.uk\/?p=31593"},"modified":"2023-07-22T15:01:58","modified_gmt":"2023-07-22T15:01:58","slug":"one-of-uks-biggest-offshore-wind-farms-gets-the-green-light-from-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/350ppm.co.uk\/blog\/one-of-uks-biggest-offshore-wind-farms-gets-the-green-light-from-government\/","title":{"rendered":"One of UK&#8217;s biggest offshore wind farms gets the green light from Government &#8211; renewableUK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Plans for a wind farm off the Yorkshire coast capable of powering more than a million homes have been approved.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Energy Secretary Grant Shapps granted consent for phase four of the Hornsea windfarm development on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the Government\u2019s decision to approve\u00a0\u00d8rsted\u2019s\u00a0Hornsea Four offshore wind project off the coast of East Yorkshire, RenewableUK\u2019s Executive Director of Policy Ana Musat said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s great to see one of the UK\u2019s largest offshore wind farms getting the green light from the Government, at a time when we urgently need to get cracking on building new clean energy projects to generate the cheapest power for billpayers and enable us to bolster domestic supply chains.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHornsea Four will strengthen Britain\u2019s energy security significantly, helping us to move away from the volatility of international gas prices and closer towards energy independence, as well as enabling us to take a major leap forward towards net zero\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hornsea Four is the second largest UK offshore wind project to gain consent. It will have a capacity of up to 2,600MW (up to 180 turbines), which if built in full would provide&nbsp;enough power to meet the average daily needs of over 1 million homes.<br><br>Hornsea Three is the biggest UK offshore wind project to be approved to date (2,852MW).&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>The largest operational offshore wind farm in UK waters, Hornsea Two (1,386MW) was fully commissioned last August.
